About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Parenting Facilitator to join our team at Cardiff County Council. As a key member of our Flying Start Groups Team, you will play a vital role in delivering informal drop-in sessions and engaging parenting programs in community venues across the city.

Key Responsibilities
  • Co-facilitate with a Senior Parent Group Facilitator to plan, deliver, monitor, and evaluate effective programs of support and intervention for families with children under 5 years old.
  • Contribute to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment that is sensitive to the needs of adults and children using our services.
  • Foster a safe space for parents and children to play and interact, supporting wellbeing and enhancing positive parenting skills.
  • Lead on creche provision where it supports families to access parenting group support.
Requirements
  • A Level qualification in Children's Care, Learning, Play, and Development is essential.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the developmental needs of children and ability to deliver information to parents about their child's development or parenting approaches in a sensitive manner.
  • Non-judgmental approach, demonstrating empathy and understanding when working with service users who may be experiencing challenge and trauma.
  • Ability to problem-solve and respond appropriately to disclosures from service users concerning vulnerable children and/or adults, child protection, and/or domestic abuse.
  • Access to a vehicle and a clean driving license is essential for travel across the city.
