About the Job

The Cardiff Flying Start Groups Team is responsible for providing structured programs such as Language and Play, alongside informal drop-in play sessions for families across various city regions. We also organize school holiday activities, including fun days and excursions.

In collaboration with the Area Team Leader, the successful candidate will be tasked with planning, delivering, monitoring, and evaluating effective support and intervention programs that are inclusive for all families with children under a specified age. They will actively contribute to fostering a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that caters to the needs of both adults and children utilizing our services. The role involves creating a safe environment for parents and children to engage in play and interaction, promoting well-being and enhancing positive parenting skills.

What We Are Looking For

A Level 3 qualification in Children's Care, Learning, Play, and Development is essential (please refer to the job description and personal specification for further qualification details). When applying, candidates should highlight how they meet the essential criteria outlined in the attached person specification.

The successful candidate will plan and deliver services that encourage parent-child interaction, nurture child development, and provide a safe space for parents and children to engage in play and interaction, thereby supporting well-being and enhancing positive parenting skills. The role may involve working with service users facing challenges, trauma, and distress, necessitating a non-judgmental approach characterized by empathy and understanding.

Candidates must possess a thorough understanding of children's developmental needs and be capable of conveying information to parents regarding their child's development or parenting strategies in a sensitive manner.

The post holder will be required to receive and respond appropriately to disclosures from service users concerning vulnerable children and/or adults, child protection, and/or domestic abuse, advising and acting according to established protocols and procedures.

A clean driving license and access to a vehicle are essential, as the role necessitates travel across various areas.
