Position Overview

The Cardiff Flying Start Groups Team is responsible for implementing structured programs like Language and Play, alongside informal drop-in sessions for families across various regions of the city. We also organize school holiday activities, including fun days and excursions.

In collaboration with the Area Team Leader, the selected candidate will be tasked with planning, executing, monitoring, and assessing effective support and intervention programs tailored for families with children under a specified age. The role emphasizes creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that addresses the needs of both adults and children utilizing our services. A safe environment for parents and children to engage and play is paramount to promoting well-being and enhancing positive parenting practices.

Candidate Requirements

A Level 3 qualification in Children's Care, Learning, Play, and Development is essential (please refer to the job description and personal specification for detailed qualification requirements). When applying, candidates should highlight how they meet the essential criteria outlined in the attached person specification.

The successful candidate will design and implement services that foster parent-child interaction, nurture child development, and provide a secure space for families to engage and play, thereby supporting well-being and enhancing positive parenting skills. The role may involve working with individuals facing challenges, trauma, and distress, necessitating a non-judgmental approach characterized by empathy and understanding.

Applicants must possess a thorough understanding of children's developmental needs and be adept at communicating sensitive information regarding child development and parenting strategies to parents.

The position requires the ability to receive and respond appropriately to disclosures from service users regarding vulnerable children and/or adults, child protection, and/or domestic abuse, advising and acting in accordance with established protocols and procedures.

A valid driving license and access to a vehicle are mandatory, as the role entails travel across various areas.
