About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Psychology Lead to join our Maternity Trauma and Loss Care Service at Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of clinical psychologists and other healthcare professionals in providing specialist psychological services to women and birthing people experiencing trauma, loss, and perinatal mental health issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of psychological services for the Maternity Trauma and Loss Care Service, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practice and national guidelines.
  • Provide clinical leadership and supervision to a team of clinical psychologists and other healthcare professionals, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and deliver trauma-informed care and support services for women and birthing people experiencing perinatal mental health issues.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local maternity services, perinatal mental health services, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless care pathways and effective service delivery.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of service evaluation and quality improvement initiatives, ensuring that services are responsive to the needs of women and birthing people.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to colleagues and stakeholders on psychological assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of perinatal mental health issues.
  • Develop and deliver training and education programs for healthcare professionals on trauma-informed care and perinatal mental health issues.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of research and audit projects, ensuring that services are informed by the latest evidence and best practice.
Person Specification

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Psychology Lead who possesses the following qualifications and experience:

  • Postgraduate doctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent.
  • Post-doctoral qualification or training in an evidence-based treatment for trauma, such as CBT for PTSD or EMDR.
  • Experience of working with women and birthing people experiencing perinatal mental health issues, including trauma, loss, and grief.
  • Experience of leading a team of clinical psychologists and other healthcare professionals.
  • Experience of developing and implementing psychological services, including service evaluation and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to provide expert advice and guidance on psychological assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of perinatal mental health issues.
