About The Chelsea Psychology Clinic

The Chelsea Psychology Clinic (TCPC) is a distinguished mental health and wellness facility, featuring a collaborative team of private psychiatrists, psychologists, and various healthcare professionals. Our clinic provides a platform for independent practitioners to work synergistically, delivering a wide array of high-quality, client-centered clinical services, including therapeutic sessions and educational assessments.

Founded in 2016, TCPC has expanded significantly, now operating across multiple locations and offering extensive online therapy and assessments. Our clinic is dedicated to providing comprehensive mental health services from early morning until late evening on weekdays and during weekends.

Role Responsibilities

We are looking for a skilled educational psychologist to dedicate up to 3 days per week to spearhead the development of our educational psychology pathway. You will collaborate within the Child, Young Persons, and Family Pathway, working alongside a multi-disciplinary team that includes psychologists, psychotherapists, nurses, psychiatrists, and nutritionists to effectively address our clients' needs.

Your role will encompass both traditional educational psychology assessments at the clinic and outreach initiatives to forge partnerships with local educational institutions and stakeholders.

Key Duties for Educational Psychology Assessments:

  • Conduct 4-6 assessments monthly at the clinic, including school observations as necessary.
  • Each assessment will involve 6 hours of client interaction (4 hours in-person, 2 hours online), followed by the preparation of a detailed report.
  • A dedicated office space will be provided for your assessments.
  • You will work with children who may have neurodevelopmental conditions or mental health challenges, providing therapeutic guidance and referrals to other team members as needed.
  • Assessment sessions will be scheduled by an assistant psychologist, while you will have the flexibility to arrange online appointments according to your availability.

Outreach Responsibilities:

You will proactively engage with local schools and relevant educational settings to build relationships and offer consultations regarding mental health issues affecting children and young people, enhancing their understanding of psychological challenges.

This is a pivotal moment for the clinic as the outreach program is in its formative stages, and you will play a crucial role in leading this initiative under the guidance of the clinical services director. Over time, you may be expected to recruit and manage a team of educational psychologists, contributing significantly to the development of this service.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Qualified Educational Psychologist with a psychology degree (or BPS equivalent) and HCPC registration.
  • A minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience in educational and psychological assessments.
  • Experience in diverse settings, including UK schools, independent institutions, and private practice.
  • Service development experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong understanding of the UK educational system and the roles of school personnel.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with school staff (SENCO) to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Proficiency in using assessment tools such as WISC-V, WIAT-III, WPPSI-IV, or their equivalents.
  • Experience working with children with learning difficulties and neurodevelopmental conditions.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with families and team members.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of practice, documentation, and report writing in line with professional guidelines.

Benefits:

As part of our team, you will enjoy:

  • Flexible hybrid working arrangements.
  • Support from a dedicated administrative and assistant psychologist team.
  • Opportunities for professional development and training.
  • Regular managerial support and supervision.
  • Private health insurance and pension plan after probation.
  • Access to quarterly CPD and social events.
