Position Overview

HCPC Registered Educational Psychologist

Role: Educational Psychologist at a Private Mental Health Clinic

Compensation: £65,000 FTE

Work Schedule: 3 days per week (0.6 FTE)

Work Arrangement: Hybrid (On-site at clinic / remote / school observations)

Accountability: Reports to Directors of Clinical Operations, Head of Clinical Services, and Child, Young Person, and Family Pathway Lead.

The Chelsea Psychology Clinic (TCPC) is a distinguished mental health and wellbeing facility, comprising a team of private psychiatrists, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals. We provide a collaborative environment for independent practitioners to deliver a variety of high-quality, client-centered clinical services, including therapeutic sessions and educational assessments.

Founded in 2016, TCPC has expanded significantly, now operating across multiple locations and offering extensive online therapy and assessments. Our clinic hours are from 8 am to 10 pm on weekdays and 9 am to 6 pm on Saturdays.

Role Responsibilities

This position presents an excellent opportunity for a seasoned educational psychologist to lead the development of our educational psychology pathway. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, psychotherapists, nurses, psychiatrists, and nutritionists, to address the needs of our clients.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting educational psychology assessments at the clinic, including school observations as necessary.
  • Completing 4-6 assessments per month, each involving 6 hours of client contact (4 hours in-person, 2 hours online), followed by the preparation of comprehensive reports.
  • Utilizing a dedicated office space for assessment purposes.
  • Working with children presenting with neurodevelopmental conditions and mental health challenges, providing therapeutic guidance and referrals as needed.
  • Coordinating assessment schedules with an assistant psychologist and managing online appointments flexibly.

Outreach Initiatives

In addition to assessment duties, you will engage with local schools and educational institutions to foster partnerships and provide consultations on mental health matters affecting children and young people. This role is pivotal as the outreach program is in its early stages, allowing you to shape this pathway under the guidance of the clinical services director.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Qualified Educational Psychologist with a psychology degree (or BPS equivalent) and HCPC registration.
  • A minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience in educational and psychological assessments.
  • Experience in diverse settings, including UK schools and private practice.
  • Familiarity with the UK educational system and effective collaboration with school staff.
  • Proficiency in using assessment tools such as WISC-V, WIAT-III, and WPPSI-IV.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with families and team members.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of practice and documentation in line with professional codes.
