Position Overview: The University of Cambridge is looking for a dedicated Laboratory Research Coordinator to lend expertise in cryogenics and facilitate research initiatives within a collaborative laboratory environment.

About the Role: The successful candidate will join a vibrant team as part of a shared technician resource, reporting directly to the Laboratory Manager. This role is pivotal in supporting various research teams engaged in innovative scientific inquiries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in conducting experiments and maintaining laboratory equipment.
  • Provide training to junior researchers on the use of cryogenic materials and equipment.
  • Play a crucial role in the decommissioning and recommissioning of laboratory apparatus during transitions.

Qualifications: Candidates should possess a solid background in specialized laboratory operations, including but not limited to optical, electronic, mechanical, high-pressure, cryogenic, and vacuum systems. Experience in delivering training to both groups and individuals is essential.

Skills Required: Strong communication and organizational abilities are necessary to thrive in a small team setting. Practical experience in mechanical workshop tasks and a comprehensive understanding of cryogenics and gas laws are also required.
