Position Overview
The Department of Psychology at the University of Cambridge is seeking a dedicated Research Laboratory Technician to oversee the operations of two collaborative research laboratories on a full-time basis. This role is pivotal in supporting the research endeavors of esteemed Professors Jeff Dalley and Rebecca Lawson, focusing on essential neurobiological studies.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate fundamental research activities involving brain histological tissue preparation and high-resolution microscopy.
- Facilitate neurochemical assays and techniques to analyze gene expression in the central nervous system.
- Ensure the effective management of laboratory equipment and resources.
- Provide comprehensive technical support and training for researchers and students utilizing laboratory equipment.
- Maintain and develop essential documentation and processes to streamline laboratory operations.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and proficiency in IT. A background in histology, particularly immunohistochemistry, is essential, along with familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, and statistical software such as SPSS. The ability to quickly adapt to new processes and techniques is also crucial.
