Position Overview

The Department of Psychology at the University of Cambridge is seeking a motivated and skilled Research Laboratory Technician to oversee the operations of two collaborative research facilities on a full-time basis. This pivotal role supports the research endeavors of esteemed Professors Jeff Dalley and Rebecca Lawson, focusing on essential neurobiological studies that encompass brain histological tissue preparation, advanced microscopy, neurochemical assessments, and methodologies to explore gene expression within the central nervous system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the daily functions and equipment usage of the laboratories.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation and processes to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to researchers and students utilizing laboratory equipment.
  • Facilitate the seamless execution of primary brain research activities.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and proficiency in IT. A background in histology, particularly immunohistochemistry, is essential, along with familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, and statistical software such as SPSS. The ability to quickly learn new techniques and processes is crucial.
