Band 6 Advanced Speech and Language Therapy Specialist

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with innovative and dedicated teams in a nurturing and progressive atmosphere.
  • Assist educational institutions in implementing effective universal and targeted practices.
  • Deliver specialized interventions to children and adolescents with diverse Education, Health, and Care needs.
  • Engage with parents, educational staff, and other professionals to cultivate a comprehensive understanding of each child's speech, language, and communication requirements.
  • Enhance your supervisory and training capabilities through 1:1 and peer group supervision sessions, along with a structured in-house training program.

Job Duties

  • Evaluate, design, and implement Speech and Language Therapy interventions for children facing a variety of communication challenges.
  • Analyze auditory, visual, and kinesthetic components of children's communication to identify effective strategies that enhance communicative abilities in various settings.
  • Make informed clinical decisions based on assessments, utilizing evidence-based practices and outcome measurements to ensure optimal treatment for children and their families.
  • Conduct differential diagnoses grounded in assessment evidence.
  • Demonstrate clinical effectiveness through evidence-based practices and relevant outcome measures.
  • Adapt therapeutic practices to accommodate individual circumstances, considering specific clinical conditions and cultural, religious, and linguistic differences.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Degree and License to Practice from the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists.
  • Current registration with HCPC and RCSLT.

Experience

Essential:

  • Experience supporting children, families, and educational institutions in accordance with relevant legislation.
  • Collaborative engagement with parents and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience in training others.

Desirable:

  • Interest in developing clinical specialization in educational settings.
  • Experience in mentoring junior therapists and providing supervision.

  • Ability to manage a personal caseload independently while supporting junior staff.
