Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Neonatal Speech and Language Therapy Specialist to join our esteemed team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This role is pivotal in enhancing our neonatal speech and language therapy services across our facilities.
Role Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for spearheading the development of our neonatal speech and language therapy program, serving as the clinical authority within the multidisciplinary team (MDT). This position emphasizes collaboration with the MDT to promote family-centered care and support initiatives aimed at creating a nurturing environment for our patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a clinical authority in neonatal speech and language therapy.
- Champion family-centered care practices to enhance patient outcomes.
- Lead the identification and execution of early interventions for at-risk infants.
- Maintain effective communication with neonatal operational delivery network leaders.
- Collaborate with neonatology consultants and the broader MDT to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Manage complex cases involving vulnerable infants and navigate challenging family dynamics.
- Ensure adherence to clinical guidelines and referral criteria based on the latest evidence.
- Benchmark service delivery against national standards and contribute to service improvement initiatives.
- Provide clinical supervision and support to teams within the Trust and local network.
- Serve as a resource for expert advice within the neonatal MDT.
- Engage with national neonatal groups to stay abreast of best practices.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
- Registration with HCPC and RCSLT.
- Relevant postgraduate neonatal training.
- Significant experience in managing infant dysphagia and working within a neonatal unit.
- Knowledge of family-integrated care models.
- Experience in teaching diverse audiences and working within a multidisciplinary framework.
