Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Speech and Language Therapist to join our School-Aged Team at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. The successful candidate will work as part of a dynamic and innovative team, providing support for primary and secondary schools in Lewisham.

Main Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development, testing, and implementation of new ways of working within the School-Aged Team.
  • Ensure that the service provided is integrated, evidence-based, and delivered in accordance with care pathways and protocols, responsive to the needs of the local population.
  • Assess, diagnose, manage, and evaluate outcomes for children and young people presenting with a range of speech, language, and communication difficulties, some of which may be highly complex.
  • Hold an area of special interest within the profile of the clinical caseload.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate specialist teaching packages within the clinical caseload.
Person Specification

Qualifications and Training

  • Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent.
  • Health Professions Council - Licence to Practice.
  • Registration as a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.

Desirable

  • Membership of relevant Special Interest Groups.
  • Postgraduate study relevant to the field or equivalent specialist advanced short courses.

Experience

  • Able to demonstrate post-qualification experience working with children with a wide range of speech, language, and communication needs.
  • Able to demonstrate experience of working with schools and engaging them in interventions.
  • Experience of collaborative working with education staff and parents.
  • Experience of training others.

Desirable

  • Experience of supporting other less experienced staff/students.
  • Experience of working with Teaching Assistants.
