Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our Neurorehabilitation team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage an autonomous caseload for the Neurorehabilitation service, including assessment, differential diagnosis, and specialist SLT management for patients with acquired communication and swallowing disorders.
  • Provide highly specialist input into policies and protocols regarding the management of patients seen by the Speech and Language Therapy Neurorehabilitation team and wider service.
  • Work closely and in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team in Neurorehabilitation in assessment, the planning and provision of rehabilitation goals and programmes, negotiating length of stay and discharge arrangements as appropriate.
  • Coordinate and promote communication developments under the guidance of a senior therapist, including mental capacity act issues, developing and delivering training on supporting communication, and advising on environmental changes that support those with communication difficulties.
  • Act as Rehabilitation Coordinator as appropriate.
  • Contribute to instrumental assessments (VF/FEES) and assist in the training and supervision of other SLT staff in these assessments as appropriate.
Requirements
  • Postgraduate qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Experience of working with adults with acquired communication and swallowing disorders.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
