Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our medical secretary team within the ENT Department. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth administrative operation of patient pathways.

The successful candidate will possess a strong background in managing effective systems for patient administration. Flexibility is essential, as the role may require collaboration across various sites to generate clinical documentation using digital transcription software from both outpatient and inpatient visits.

A solid understanding of the Patient Tracking List (PTL) is vital for overseeing patient pathways. Familiarity with medical terminology and prior experience in a clerical or secretarial capacity will be advantageous.

Strong communication skills are necessary, as the role involves interaction with senior staff, patients, colleagues, and the public, requiring a tactful and diplomatic approach.

Key Responsibilities

The post holder will assist designated clinicians and collaborate with team members to provide comprehensive support to the clinical teams.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing administrative systems for patient pathways effectively.
  • Producing clinical correspondence through digital transcription software.
  • Utilizing the PTL to oversee patient pathways.
  • Displaying professionalism and strong communication skills in all interactions.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 3 GCSEs, including English and Maths at Grade C or above, or equivalent experience.
  • RSA III or NVQ III or equivalent administrative qualification.
  • ECDL or equivalent qualification/demonstrable experience.

Desirable

  • Business Administration Level II Apprenticeship.
