Team Overview

The Identity Governance Specialist is tasked with overseeing the daily functions of the identity management service, ensuring that all users, including employees, contractors, partners, and clients, are accurately authenticated within the corporate and partner networks. This position combines service management with personnel leadership, requiring specific expertise in Identity and Access Management from the perspective of user identity management and verification. The role is accountable for managing account identity assignments, modifications, and deletions as part of an employee's journey through the organization. Additionally, the specialist is responsible for implementing appropriate checks during user authentication to maintain a secure environment while minimizing user experience disruption.

The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in operational identity management, demonstrating a strong history of service delivery and team leadership.

This role demands a solid understanding of identity management principles while also focusing on enhancing user experience within the boundaries of operational security. The successful candidate will face the challenge of balancing user accessibility with necessary security and compliance measures to minimize potential breach risks.

The Identity Governance Specialist will report directly to the Head of Identity and Access Management, playing a vital role in providing a secure and reliable working environment for the organization’s extensive user base.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the operational service delivery of the Identity Lifecycle service, encompassing internal, external, guest, and partner accounts. Manage identity security controls, including Conditional Access Policies, Multi-Factor Authentication, Passwordless, and Biometric Authentication technologies. Collaborate with Access Management teams to ensure a comprehensive IAM service. Provide expertise on identity framework integration, including Enterprise Application registration in EntraID for SSO and automated provisioning. Assist in designing enterprise solutions to address complex challenges. Integrate onboarding solutions into existing IAM frameworks and plans. Define work packages for team delivery. Support compliance with regulatory obligations, including ISO 27001 audits, Cyber Essentials Plus (CE+) compliance, and customer audits. Manage team performance through regular one-on-ones and annual reviews. Maintain stakeholder engagement by regularly discussing team performance and workloads with management. Generate and present reports to communicate ideas, risks, opportunities, and best practices. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to foster collaboration and support. Ensure accountability for Identity Provider (IdP) systems and associated applications. Oversee changes and maintenance of IdPs and related systems. Establish a robust BCP/DR solution for IdPs.

Required Qualifications

Proven experience in an IT Identity Management role. Demonstrated team leadership capabilities. Relevant technical certifications in Microsoft technologies (AZ500, SC300, etc.). Strong background in a challenging commercial environment. Proficient knowledge of relevant functional systems (EntraID, Active Directory). Experience in influencing multi-tier management. Ability to develop best practice policies and procedures. Highly motivated with a commitment to self-learning and industry best practices. Experience in people management and training. Track record of managing results-oriented operations. Ability to hold SC Clearance or obtain it.

Desirable Skills

Professional qualifications (CISM, CISSP, etc.). Knowledge of information assurance standards and frameworks, including CIS, NIST, ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials/Essentials Plus, GDPR. Strong presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written. Excellent organizational and time management abilities. Proficient in ServiceNow. Membership in a professional body (CIISec, BCS, etc.). Ability to hold DV Clearance or obtain it.
