Position Overview

Applicants should hold a recognized qualification in Pharmacy Technology (such as BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent) and be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council. We encourage applications from individuals with hospital experience, as well as those from community pharmacy backgrounds. Newly qualified candidates and students nearing qualification are also welcome to apply.

Key Responsibilities

As a Pharmaceutical Care Technician, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering a comprehensive medicine optimization service to ensure high-quality pharmacy care for service users in both inpatient and community settings.
  • Collaborating closely with the pharmacy team and integrated multidisciplinary teams to innovate and enhance medicine optimization practices.
  • Engaging in the medicine reconciliation process, ensuring accuracy and timely documentation.
  • Assessing the suitability of patients' own medications for use during their hospital stay and upon discharge.
  • Coordinating with general practitioners, community pharmacies, and other healthcare professionals to maintain safe medication practices and continuity of care.
  • Participating in discharge planning to ensure efficient medication prescribing and availability for service users.
  • Conducting regular audits and participating in training initiatives for new team members.
  • Maintaining compliance with clinical governance standards and contributing to departmental quality improvement efforts.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with relevant qualifications.
