ISS is expanding its Climate and Nature Innovation Lab and is on the lookout for a dedicated expert to spearhead the newly formed Nature Modelling Team. Ideal candidates will possess a robust foundation in quantitative analysis and demonstrate a commitment to responsible investment, particularly in the realms of climate change and biodiversity risk management.

The Climate and Nature Innovation Lab plays a pivotal role in the development and maintenance of advanced models that support ISS ESG's Climate & Nature Solutions, including tools for assessing Physical and Transitional Value at Risk, as well as the Biodiversity Impact Assessment Tool. As the leader of Nature Modelling, you will be tasked with advancing and refining quantitative models related to nature and biodiversity, while collaborating across various teams to drive product innovation and development. Additionally, you will keep a close watch on both soft and hard regulatory trends associated with Climate Change and Nature.

Your Contributions to Our Mission

  • Lead the enhancement and development of models focused on nature and biodiversity within ISS ESG's Climate and Nature Solutions.
  • Support product innovation concerning nature, biodiversity, and climate change through quantitative modelling.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to creatively enhance the product offerings for financial institutions.
  • Engage in client-facing discussions as a subject matter expert.
  • Mentor and develop talent within the team, fostering a productive and inspiring workplace culture.
  • Track global regulatory developments regarding nature and biodiversity to guide solution creation.

What You Bring to ISS

  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in quantitative modelling related to climate and biodiversity impacts or risks, ideally within a financial institution or corporate setting.
  • An advanced degree in environmental science, engineering, economics, quantitative finance, or a related field.
  • Expertise in Life Cycle Assessment, Input/Output models, supply chain analysis, and biodiversity modelling techniques.
  • Strong analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative, with experience handling large datasets and a knack for conceptual thinking.
  • Knowledge of sustainable finance and familiarity with climate and biodiversity regulations affecting financial institutions.
  • Experience with Integrated Assessment Models (IAMs), macroeconomic modelling, or financial analysis is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL, along with a solid understanding of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Exceptional communication skills in English; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
  • A collaborative mindset and a customer-first approach.
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
