Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Ecology and Biodiversity Lead to join our growing team in London. In this role, you will play a key part in shaping our ecological consultancy services and delivering impactful projects for a diverse range of clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert guidance and leadership on all aspects of ecology and biodiversity within projects.
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions to address environmental challenges, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and best practices.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies, effectively communicating complex technical information.
  • Manage and mentor a team of ecologists, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Contribute to the development and growth of Lanpro's ecological consultancy services, identifying new business opportunities and expanding our market reach.

Project Delivery

  • Oversee the day-to-day management of the London ecology and biodiversity team.
  • Lead a diverse range of complex technical and professional activities to ensure project excellence.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all applicable health, safety, environmental, and quality (SHEQ) procedures for yourself and your team.
  • Take on key roles in projects within your specialist field, acting as Project Director, Project Manager, or Discipline Lead for projects of varying scales and complexities.
  • Maintain ongoing professional development in accordance with the requirements of CIEEM.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Possess over 10 years of relevant experience in ecology and biodiversity consultancy.
  • Hold a MCIEEM, CEcol, or CEnv qualification (preferred).
  • Demonstrate proven leadership and management experience (preferred).

  • Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrate exceptional client management and resolution abilities, including the confidence to present at senior levels and across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Showcase strong project management skills, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of projects.
  • Exhibit proficiency in report writing and quality assurance, providing constructive feedback to colleagues' work.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of commercial principles.
  • Possess exemplary knowledge and expertise of relevant legislation and policy.
