About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Ecology Officer to join our Biodiversity & Greenspaces Team, working closely with the Principal Ecology Officer and other departments to deliver the biodiversity duties of the Council.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and review planning applications to ensure the Council meets its statutory duty for conserving and enhancing biodiversity
  • Provide ecological advice and support to colleagues and stakeholders
  • Develop and implement biodiversity projects and schemes, in accordance with the Council's Climate Change & Environment Strategy
  • Represent the Council and support partnerships to promote biodiversity and nature conservation
  • Monitor and report on progress towards biodiversity targets and ecological information
Requirements
  • Confident in assessing complex technical ecological information
  • Understanding of ecological planning issues and experience in developing and implementing new policies
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team
  • Computer literate with experience in GIS systems and using databases
