About the Role

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Ecologist to join our team at Locri Recruitment. As a key member of our ecology team, you will be responsible for leading the growth and delivery of ecological services in London and the South East.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Contribution: Participate in the development and execution of team-wide strategies and resource planning.
  • Service Development: Lead the growth and delivery of ecological services, collaborating with senior team members for support.
  • Leadership: Work closely with the Ecology Leadership Team to inspire, motivate, and guide a team of dedicated ecologists and ornithologists.
  • Best Practices Implementation: Develop and implement operational and scientific best practices for ecological surveys, assessments, and team management.
  • Project Management: Oversee a diverse portfolio of ecological consultancy projects, ensuring effective resourcing, timely delivery, and financial performance.
  • External Representation: Act as an ambassador for the company at industry events and best practice forums.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree-level education or equivalent skills and knowledge.
  • Significant leadership experience in ecological consultancy in the UK.
  • Proven track record in managing complex ecological consultancy projects.
  • Strong business development and work-winning skills.
  • Deep understanding of UK ecological survey and assessment methods, legislation, and the development planning process.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of English nature conservation legislation and policy.
  • Understanding of the English development management process.
