Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform bird surveys, including site assessments, vantage point surveys, walkovers, and nesting bird surveys as directed.
  • Contribute to avian impact assessments for diverse development projects, particularly in the renewable energy sector.
  • Prepare detailed ornithological and ecological reports to support development, including contributions to Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), Natura Impact Assessments (NIS)/Habitat Regulation Assessments (HRA), and Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs).
  • Organize and maintain ecological data in accordance with specified guidelines to ensure data safety and integrity.
  • Assist in ecological surveys and report writing as needed, including assessments for terrestrial mammals, amphibians, bats, and habitats.
  • Stay updated on current legislation and best practices, as well as the latest ornithological and ecological research and mitigation strategies relevant to various development types.
  • Engage with project stakeholders and team members to define site-specific scopes of work for assessments.
  • Participate in meetings with clients and project teams to discuss project progress and findings as necessary.
  • Perform additional tasks as required to adapt to the company's evolving needs.

Essential Criteria:

  • Strong fieldwork and data collection capabilities.
  • Experience in various bird surveying techniques, habitat assessments, and ecological monitoring.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of bird species, identification skills (both visually and by call), and bird-survey methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, report writing, and presentation abilities, with experience in preparing ecological reports.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for report writing and team collaboration.
  • Analytical skills and proficiency in IT.
  • Project management skills, including planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • A willingness to pursue professional development opportunities.
  • A full clean driver's license and access to a vehicle.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in additional ecological survey techniques.
  • Proficiency in relevant GIS software and data management tools.
  • Experience in conducting Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), Natura Impact Assessments (NIS)/Habitat Regulation Assessments (HRA), and Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs).

Personal Attributes:

  • Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
  • A highly motivated individual with a commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Capability to work under pressure and meet defined deadlines.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and remote locations.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary based on experience.
  • Family-friendly hybrid working policy.
  • 30 days of annual leave (including bank holidays), increasing with tenure.
  • Support for professional and personal development.
  • Company-funded membership of professional organizations.

Work Hours:
