About the Role

The Diocese of Southwark is seeking a highly skilled and organized individual to fill the position of Office Facilities and Safety Officer. This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Safety Policies: Create and enforce safety protocols to minimize risks and ensure compliance with relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Manage Physical Work Environment: Oversee the daily operations of the office facilities, including space planning, equipment management, and contractor supervision.
  • Conduct Risk Assessments: Identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.
  • Provide Training and Support: Deliver training sessions to employees on safe work practices and provide guidance on maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Implement Sustainability Initiatives: Develop and implement strategies to reduce the organization's environmental impact and promote sustainability.
  • Manage Budgets and Expenses: Oversee facility-related expenses and develop strategies to optimize costs.
Person Specification
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Possess the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally, both internally and externally.
  • Experience in Office and Facilities Administration: Have a proven track record of experience in office and facilities administration, with a strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
  • Good IT Competency: Possess strong IT skills, including proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
  • Financial Acumen: Have a basic understanding of finances, budgeting, and budget management.
  • Strong Organizational Skills: Be able to prioritize tasks, manage conflicting deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to Work Flexibly: Be willing and able to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Possess the ability to communicate effectively with a range of people, including employees, contractors, and external stakeholders.
