Quality Assurance and Safety Enhancement Analyst

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Patient Safety Improvement Lead, this role is integral to the Patient Safety Team, supporting the execution of the Trust's Quality Strategy and vision to provide 'Best of care by the best of people' through the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality services, ensuring that all individuals utilizing our services, along with their families, caregivers, and visitors, have a positive experience.

Under the guidance of the Patient Safety Improvement Lead, the incumbent will be tasked with offering leadership and expertise to facilitate the investigation of incidents and grievances, ensuring compliance with duty of candour obligations, and identifying areas for enhancement, lessons learned, and best practices, as well as developing improvement strategies.

Job Responsibilities

Supporting a culture that enhances quality by enabling the delivery of high-quality care through the effective identification of lessons learned and areas for improvement utilizing SEIPS (Systems Engineering Initiative for Patient Safety).

Ensuring the prompt and effective investigation of incidents and complex complaints, ensuring that regulatory duties concerning duty of candour are fulfilled, family concerns are incorporated into terms of reference, and supporting the review of reports via an internal expert panel.

Assisting in the development and execution of the patient safety team’s work program in alignment with local and statutory requirements, including PSIRF (Patient Safety Incident Response Framework).

Aiding in the compilation of documentary evidence necessary to support any external assessments related to patient safety.

Supporting actions identified and undertaken to mitigate the risk of incidents occurring and to enhance outcomes for individuals utilizing our services, their families or caregivers, staff, and visitor safety.

Contributing to internal and external Trust publications as required to promote robust incident management and reporting.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree/management qualification or equivalent experience. GCSE (or equivalent) English Language and Maths to grade C.
  • A clinical qualification/registration is desirable.
  • Quality Improvement Qualification is desirable.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of the NHS National Investigations Framework and duty of candour regulations.
  • In-depth and significant knowledge and experience of quality and patient safety.
  • Familiarity with quality improvement tools and techniques and an understanding of human factors in patient safety.

Experience

  • Ability to apply confidentiality and information governance.
  • Demonstrates up-to-date, evidence-based knowledge of current clinical and professional issues.
  • Experience in gathering and interpreting patient safety data and implementing measurable improvement plans.
  • Experience in decision-making and prioritizing in an acute healthcare setting.
