Position Overview

We are pleased to announce a part-time opportunity for an EOC Quality Improvement Manager to join our dedicated EOC Quality Improvement Team, which consists of both clinical and administrative professionals. This department is a specialized, highly efficient, and supportive unit committed to enhancing the overall quality of interactions within our Emergency Operations Centre (EOC).

You will collaborate with two other EOC Quality Improvement Managers who will assist you in acclimating to both the responsibilities of the role and the dynamics of the team.

Key Responsibilities

The individual in this role will oversee the daily EOC audit operations, ensuring compliance with both local and national standards for EOC audits.

  • Provide leadership and oversight for the EOC Team, ensuring effective management of recruitment, training, workload distribution, performance evaluations, and adherence to SECAMB HR Policies and Procedures.
  • Formulate the Trust's annual EOC audit strategy, ensuring collaboration with stakeholders in line with established policies. This includes evaluating the Trust's most significant clinical risks and strategizing for audits and improvements.

Job Duties

The successful candidate will analyze and present intricate information in a clear and engaging manner for stakeholders. Serve as a methodological authority on audit and quality enhancement for the audit and improvement team as well as the broader Trust. Foster the development and comprehension of audit and quality enhancement within the Trust, in partnership with the Quality Improvement Lead.

Required Knowledge

Essential Qualifications

  • Familiarity with current government and NHS strategies and policies regarding clinical governance, effectiveness, audit, and improvement.
  • Comprehensive understanding of operational processes in telephone triage.
  • In-depth knowledge of NHS Pathways systems and telephone triage principles.
  • Technical expertise in Computer Aided Dispatch, telephony systems, voice recording, GRS, and administrative systems to provide first-line support to direct reports before escalation to IT support.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Awareness of current challenges in health and social care and their potential impact on Ambulance Services.

Required Experience

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience in leading audits and/or improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated evidence of managing projects effectively.
  • Experience in leading teams, showcasing the ability to professionally guide and manage staff.
  • Minimum of 12 months (full-time) experience in utilizing NHSP to a compliant standard.
  • Strong understanding of the ambulance service and Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) environment.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience as a first-line supervisor, with the ability to manage and lead staff-related issues while fostering a supportive environment for staff development.
  • Proven ability to make effective decisions in high-pressure situations.
  • Experience in addressing multiple patients' needs based on clinical priority.
  • Experience in providing telephone guidance, leadership, and support.

Required Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

  • Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience.
  • A relevant clinical qualification and current professional registration (nurse or paramedic).
  • NHS Pathways qualification with evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Desirable Qualifications

  • Qualification in clinical audit and/or quality improvement.
  • Experience with project management qualifications and tools.
