About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Head of Media Planning and Strategy to join our team at UKTV. As a key member of our media planning team, you will be responsible for shaping and implementing our on-air media strategy across scripted and unscripted content to drive audience engagement and growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Media Planning Team: Manage a high-performing team of media planners, providing clear goals and direction to ensure the team delivers exceptional results.
  • Develop On-Air Media Strategy: Collaborate with our paid media agency and marketing team to develop and execute a joined-up planning process that guarantees audience-first, integrated, and optimized media plans across owned and paid media.
  • Network View: Ensure a network view of our on-air media approach, investment levels, and KPIs are set to drive business goals across the portfolio.
  • Key Lead in Marcomms Planning: Work in consultation with our Director of Media Effectiveness, Marketing, Creative, and Social teams to ensure we're reaching our audiences across our on-air inventory most effectively.
  • Continuity and Navigation: Make full use of Continuity and Navigation as a means of retaining audiences, successfully navigating viewers across brands/shows, and creating a better sense and understanding of the network identity.
  • Media Planning and Analysis: Lead the analysis and evaluation of owned-media activity, championing a learning culture that demonstrates how improvements in strategy and efficacy can add value to UKTV's business.
  • Martech Stack and Measurement Tools: Leverage our martech stack and suite of measurement tools for both strategic insight, analysis, and optimizations to drive on-air effectiveness.
Requirements
  • Expert Media Planner: An expert media planner working at a strategic level gained within a broadcaster or media agency with a strong focus on linear and VOD.
  • Results-Driven: Results-driven with a proven track record of improving performance through effective campaign strategy and planning.
  • Operational Experience: Excellent operational experience and knowledge to ensure the team is operating efficiently and effectively, in line with on-air best practice.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven experience of managing, guiding, and developing teams.
  • Problem-Solving: A problem solver capable of developing new, innovative, and creative solutions to address marketing challenges.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with stakeholders both internally and externally across several departments and services.
