Position Overview

As a Clinical Radiography Leader, you will find that each day presents unique challenges and opportunities to positively impact our patients, colleagues, and the broader community.

We are seeking a proactive and creative individual to join the Radiography Department at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. This role primarily operates on the Preston site, with the potential for responsibilities at other locations as required. The position is intended to provide support for a temporary period.

Under the supervision of the Divisional Nurse Director and Deputy, you will play a vital role in delivering managerial and professional assistance to nursing staff on a daily basis, ensuring the efficient operation of wards and departments. Your efforts will contribute to achieving exceptional clinical care while supporting the attainment of key national performance indicators. You must demonstrate the capability to act as a key decision-maker within a multidisciplinary team, ensuring the safe execution of nursing strategies in alignment with research, policy, national standards, and the NMC Code.

Key Responsibilities

In your capacity as Clinical Radiography Leader, you will collaborate closely with the Specialty Business Manager and Clinical Director on all facets of clinical care, with a strong emphasis on patient safety, patient experience, and quality assurance frameworks.

A compassionate approach to patient care is essential, along with the ability to ensure that clinical operational demands are met while fully supporting the multidisciplinary team in fulfilling their responsibilities.

A demonstrated history of leadership within the field of Radiography is crucial, as are exceptional interpersonal communication and organizational skills.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities

To provide professional leadership, guidance, development, and support for nursing and care staff, ensuring the delivery of exceptional care with compassion. Monitor and enhance the efficient and effective management of resources and the care environment to meet patient needs by providing consistently high-quality care.

The Clinical Radiography Leader is responsible for:

ensuring that nursing and care support teams within their wards, departments, and services are adequately resourced and organized for optimal patient benefit. ensuring that staff and services receive appropriate support and development to deliver exceptional care in line with the Trust's Values, Nursing & Midwifery Professional Framework, Safety and Quality Strategy, Governance framework, CQC standards, NICE guidance, and other strategic local and national plans and policies. leading and developing staff by being a visible and authoritative role model, providing clinical and managerial leadership, support, and direction, while capitalizing on research and development opportunities to help staff reach their full potential. ensuring that clinical services are developed and delivered in accordance with national policy, Trust priorities, available evidence, and patient care needs. contributing to the achievement of the Trust and directorate safety, quality, and clinical governance priorities and associated work programs. ensuring the effective operation of their areas through the monitoring and maintenance of the highest standards of clinical care, creating safe, clean, and organized services, including the implementation of infection control policies and action plans, while developing processes designed to increase the time nurses spend in therapeutic contact with patients. participating in the site management rota, providing leadership, guidance, and support for all staff across the Trust in alignment with site manager responsibilities.

• Substantial and relevant post-registration experience • Significant experience in a senior nursing role, including nursing management or team leadership • Proven ability to flexibly manage manpower and other resources • Demonstrated personal contribution to the continuing professional development of staff • Sound working knowledge of current issues within the NHS • Knowledge of Clinical Governance and Safeguarding and their relevance to practice • Experience in contributing to service developments and business planning • Awareness of budgetary management and control • Experience in managing and completing performance management processes
