Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity has emerged for a seasoned clinical research nurse to become a vital member of our Emergency Department research team.

The successful candidate will integrate into the embedded research delivery team within the ED Collaborative Research Group, which boasts over a decade of expertise in executing clinical research, operating continuously to screen and enroll patients in studies involving both adults and children.

We provide extensive support for ongoing professional development, including funding for attending conferences, opportunities for clinical academic advancement, and training in publication writing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate effectively with the Research Group Lead, Research Manager, Principal Investigators, and the research team to facilitate patient participation in research initiatives.
  • Oversee and mentor junior research personnel, managing a diverse portfolio of studies while ensuring the capacity and capability to safely conduct research.
  • As part of the Emergency Department team, engage closely with clinical band 7 nurses, participating in departmental meetings and training sessions.
  • Maintain a high level of clinical interaction with patients experiencing major trauma and emergency care; prior experience in an emergency department is advantageous but not mandatory.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Registered General Nurse (Adult or Child)
  • Completed postgraduate qualification in a specialty or clinical research-related field
  • Teaching and assessing qualification or equivalent relevant experience
  • NMC pin number

Desirable

  • Completed Master's degree in the specialty or related field or willingness to pursue

  • Proficiency in computer applications including email, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and databases used in clinical research

  • Clinical skills pertinent to the role (ED specific and cannulation/phlebotomy)
