Position Overview:

As a key member of the NHS Lothian Pharmacy & Medicines Service, you will be stationed at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital, focusing on leading the Substance Misuse Services.

Role Title: Lead Pharmacist Substance Misuse Services

Salary: Band 8A: £56,992 - £61,522

Employment Type: Permanent, 37 hours per week (1.0wte)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement evidence-based clinical practices and cost-effective prescribing.
  • Oversee medicines management and service enhancements across the Lothian substance misuse service.
  • Contribute to the formulation and assessment of medication policies and guidelines.
  • Provide clinical and professional guidance to the multidisciplinary team, both locally and nationally.

The ideal candidate will be a UK registered pharmacist with a relevant postgraduate clinical qualification and substantial experience in pharmaceutical care delivery within secondary or primary care environments. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Membership in the PVG Scheme/Disclosure Scotland is required. An independent prescribing qualification or a willingness to pursue this qualification is preferred, enabling the pharmacist to provide direct clinical care to a designated patient group.
