Autism Support Teaching Assistant

A dedicated educational institution specializing in communication and interaction for students aged three to nineteen with Autism Spectrum Disorder is seeking enthusiastic support staff. This establishment accommodates 108 learners, providing a nurturing environment tailored to their unique needs.

Students engage in a diverse and personalized curriculum, utilizing a blend of contemporary educational theories and methodologies to enhance their learning experiences.

All students at this institution face significant challenges related to the 'Triad of Impairment' central to autism. These challenges encompass difficulties in communication, social interactions, and rigid behavioral patterns, which can hinder their educational progress. Your role will be pivotal in helping these students navigate and overcome such barriers.

The school fosters a positive and professional atmosphere, seeking dynamic and motivated individuals who embrace challenges. We celebrate the individuality of each student and offer a tailored approach to education.

  • Ensure that all children feel secure, confident, and safe in the support provided.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-managed educational environment that students and families can take pride in.
  • Encourage the cognitive, social, emotional, behavioral, and physical development of students through the school's curriculum.
  • Be prepared to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviors and provide basic personal care when necessary.

Key Information -

  • Opportunity to work with exceptional children and young adults.
  • Full-time position, Monday to Friday.
  • Term-time only role.
  • PAYE contract.
  • Competitive hourly wage starting at £12.90+, depending on experience and additional responsibilities.

All candidates must possess the relevant qualifications and training for this role. For further information, please refer to the FAQs on the Teaching Personnel website.
