Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate English teacher to join our team at a specialist SEND school in West Cumbria. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of teaching English to students with autism and will be able to adapt their teaching methods to meet the individual needs of our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach English to secondary-aged students with autism, with a focus on leading English classes
  • Develop and implement engaging and inclusive lesson plans that cater to the needs of students with autism
  • Work collaboratively with the teaching team to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment
  • Assess and report on student progress, using data to inform teaching practices
  • Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the development of the school's English curriculum

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a strong understanding of the National Curriculum
  • Experience of teaching English to students with autism and other special educational needs
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the individual needs of students
  • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to inspire and motivate students
  • Fully enhanced DBS check
