SEN English Teacher Opportunity

Tradewind Recruitment is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a SEN English Teacher to join a specialist SEND school in West Cumbria. The school caters for pupils with autism, and we are seeking a dedicated teacher to work with secondary-aged pupils, with a particular emphasis on leading English.

The role will involve teaching English across different ability secondary-aged classes in the mornings, with afternoons dedicated to cross-curricular, topic-based learning and some focus on ASDAN. The school has a strong emphasis on providing a supportive and collaborative environment, with small class sizes and a maximum of 6 pupils per class, accompanied by 2-3 TAs in every classroom.

We are open to hiring a primary-trained teacher who has experience of teaching pupils with special needs. The school has fantastic on-site facilities for children with autism, and the SLT and staff pride themselves on providing an environment and curriculum where pupils will be happy.

Requirements:
  1. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
  2. Demonstrable experience and passion for teaching English
  3. Ability to engage and inspire students in a specialised SEN setting
  4. Are able to demonstrate resilience, patience and a positive approach to behaviour management
  5. Strong subject knowledge and the ability to adapt teaching methods to suit individual student needs
  6. Fully enhanced DBS check

The pay scale for this SEN English Teacher position is in line with the Main Pay Scale (MPS) / Upper Pay Scale (UPS), offering a competitive salary based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
