We are pleased to present a rewarding opportunity for a Lead Substance Misuse Non-Medical Prescriber to become a vital part of our Substance Misuse team.

In this position, you will have the chance to deliver exceptional healthcare services to our patients, ensuring that both efficiency and quality are upheld.

Working Hours

The standard working hours are Monday to Friday (8:00 AM - 4:00 PM). However, you will be required to work one late shift (2:00 PM - 8:30 PM) and every other Saturday (12:00 PM - 6:30 PM).

This is a full-time role, offering an annual salary of up to £50,400, commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities

As a Lead Substance Misuse Non-Medical Prescriber, your duties will include:

Qualifications & Experience

  • Registered Nurse (Mental Health or Adult).
  • Current professional registration (NMC).
  • Prescribing qualification in Substance Misuse.
  • RCGP 1 in Substance Misuse or a willingness to pursue this qualification.
  • Experience working with patients dependent on opiates.
  • Strong clinical knowledge in substance misuse.

While not mandatory, candidates with experience in hospital, community, or secure environments are preferred.

Job Responsibilities

As a Lead Nurse, you will collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, prioritizing patient care to develop tailored care packages through comprehensive assessments and recovery planning. You will provide a range of treatment options, including clinical and psychosocial interventions, in both individual and group settings, with a focus on recovery.

You will conduct thorough assessments, initiate and review individual recovery plans, and effectively communicate the full spectrum of treatment options available to service users. Monitoring therapeutic responses to medications and potential side effects will be essential, as will liaising with prescribers.

Your role will involve working closely with individuals, offering advice and information, and supporting group work delivery while collaborating with prescribers and Recovery Practitioners on clinical interventions. Occasionally, you may be required to assist with dispensing medications. A commitment to recovery and a person-centered approach is crucial.

You will encourage patient participation in therapeutic activities and foster an environment conducive to high-quality care. Assessing health needs using evidence-based frameworks and reviewing medication for therapeutic effectiveness will be part of your responsibilities, in line with established protocols.
