Office-based role at Empower Family Group

Position Overview:


As an Assistant Manager in Supported Living, you will operate from the head office, providing essential support to the Outreach and Supported Living Manager. Your role will involve creating a stable, structured, and therapeutic atmosphere for our Supported Living service. Collaborating closely with the Outreach and Supported Living Director, Team Manager, and Support Workers, you will ensure that all team members engage with the children and young people accessing our services in a nurturing and encouraging manner. Our Supported Living service is tailored to offer semi-independent living assistance to young individuals aged 16 and above, including Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC). You will embody the organization's values, ensuring the effective execution of care plans and person-centered support while leading the development and revision of key documentation and mentoring colleagues. A supportive, driven personality with patience, kindness, and leadership skills is essential to inspire young people to reach their full potential.


You will also assist in covering staffing shortages alongside the Outreach and Supported Living Manager and Deputy Outreach Manager.


Main Responsibilities:


· Consistently embody the company's ethos and values in your practice.


· Assist the manager in implementing practices that align with the individuals' care plans, reflecting their preferences and evolving needs, including communication and independence skills.


· Provide guidance on youth-focused practices that nurture the journey to independent living, such as exploring educational opportunities, managing personal finances, shopping, meal preparation, effective cleaning, laundry, and developing social skills.


· Support service users professionally in all aspects of their lives, including personal, emotional, physical, social, and vocational areas.


· Facilitate the maintenance of relationships between service users and their families and friends.


· Respect and understand the values that are significant to service users and colleagues.


· Encourage service users to make their own choices and decisions while ensuring their safety and supporting them in new experiences.


· Maintain flexibility in your approach for the benefit of service users and colleagues.


· Be prepared to work sleep shifts or waking nights as necessary.


· Serve as a positive role model for the staff team at all times.


· Ensure the staff team receives the highest quality of supervision and coaching.


· Execute all duties with diligence and pride.


· Be accountable for the safety and well-being of young people, promoting their best interests at all times.


· Assist with staff supervisions.


· Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations.


· Monitor and adhere to budgetary constraints.


· Ensure timely submission of mileage records, timesheets, and expenses by team members.


· Take responsibility for completing all assigned tasks efficiently and promptly.


This role requires a successful enhanced DBS check for child and adult workforce with barred list checks.

Qualifications

· Full driving license required.

· NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare is essential.

· NVQ Level 5 in Leadership & Management is desirable.

· Experience as a Children's Residential Support Worker or in a senior role seeking advancement is preferred.

· Supervisory experience is a plus.
