Position Summary:


As a Trainee Deputy Manager, you will operate from the head office, assisting the Outreach and Supported Living Manager in delivering a consistent, structured, and therapeutic environment for our Supported Living service. You will collaborate closely with the Outreach and Supported Living Director, Team Manager, and Support Workers to ensure they effectively engage with the children and young people utilizing the service, fostering a nurturing and encouraging atmosphere. The Supported Living service specifically aims to provide semi-independent living support to young individuals aged 16 and above, including Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC). Your role will involve embodying the organization's values, ensuring the effective execution of care plans and person-centered care, and taking a proactive role in developing and revising key documentation while mentoring and supporting your colleagues. It is essential that you are a supportive and motivated individual who demonstrates patience, kindness, and leadership qualities that inspire a commitment to empowering young people to reach their full potential.


You will also assist in covering staffing shortages alongside the Outreach and Supported Living Manager and Deputy Outreach Manager.


Key Responsibilities:


· Consistently embody the company's ethos and values in your daily practice.


· Assist the manager in implementing practices that reflect the individuals' care plans, adapting to their evolving needs, including communication and independence skills.


· Provide guidance on youth-focused practices that nurture the journey to independent living, such as exploring suitable educational opportunities, managing personal finances, shopping, meal preparation, effective cleaning, laundry, and expanding social skills through hobbies and interests.


· Support service users in a professional manner across all aspects of their lives—personal, emotional, physical, social, and vocational.


· Facilitate the maintenance of relationships between service users and their families and friends.


· Understand and respect the values and priorities of service users and colleagues.


· Encourage service users to make their own choices and decisions, supporting them in trying new experiences while ensuring their safety.


· Adapt your approach to work for the benefit of service users and colleagues.


· Be prepared to work sleep shifts or waking nights as necessary.


· Serve as a positive role model for the staff team at all times.


· Ensure that the staff team receives adequate support, mentoring, and high-quality supervision and coaching as needed.


· Carry out all responsibilities of your role with diligence and pride.


· Be accountable for the safety and well-being of young people at all times, promoting their best interests.


· Assist with supervision duties.


· Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations.


· Monitor and manage budgets effectively.


· Ensure timely recording of mileage and submission of timesheets and expenses by team members.


· Take responsibility for the timely and efficient completion of all assigned tasks.


This role requires the successful applicant to undergo an enhanced DBS check for child and adult workforce with barred list checks.


This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and applicants must declare any unprotected convictions, cautions, reprimands, and final warnings as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended).



Qualifications

· Full driving license required.

· NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare is essential.

· NVQ Level 5 in Leadership & Management is desirable.

· Experience as a Children's Residential Support Worker or in a senior role seeking career advancement is preferred.

· Experience in supervising a team is desirable.
