Compensation: £26,000 - £28,000 per annum (dependent on experience, plus on-call rota allowance)

Full-time, permanent role: 40 hours per week

Office-based position at Empower Family Group

Role Responsibilities:


As a Trainee Deputy Manager, you will operate from the head office, assisting the Outreach and Supported Living Manager in delivering a consistent, structured, and therapeutic atmosphere for our Supported Living service. You will collaborate closely with the Outreach and Supported Living Director, Team Manager, and Support Workers to ensure that all team members engage positively with the children and young people utilizing the service. The Supported Living program is specifically tailored to offer semi-independent living assistance to young individuals aged 16 and above, including Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC). Your role will be pivotal in embodying the organization's values, ensuring the effective execution of care plans and personalized care, while also taking a proactive approach in developing and revising essential documentation, all while mentoring and supporting your colleagues. It is vital that you possess a supportive and driven attitude, demonstrating patience, kindness, and leadership qualities that inspire a commitment to empowering young people to realize their full potential.


You will also be expected to assist in covering staffing shortfalls alongside the Outreach and Supported Living Manager and Deputy Outreach Manager.


Key Duties & Responsibilities:


· Consistently embody and promote the company ethos and values in your practice.


· Assist the manager in implementing practices that reflect the individuals' care plans, accommodating their preferences and evolving needs, including communication and independence skills.


· Provide support and guidance on youth-focused practices that facilitate the journey to independent living, such as identifying suitable educational courses, managing personal finances, shopping, meal preparation, effective cleaning, laundry, and exploring hobbies and interests to enhance social skills.


· Support service users in a professional manner across all aspects of their lives, including personal, emotional, physical, social, and vocational dimensions.


· Facilitate the maintenance of relationships between service users and their families and friends.


· Acknowledge and respect the priorities of service users and colleagues.


· Encourage service users to make their own choices and decisions, supporting them in trying new activities while ensuring their safety.


· Maintain flexibility in your approach to benefit service users and colleagues.


· Be prepared to work sleep shifts or waking nights as necessary.


· Serve as a positive role model for the staff team at all times.


· Ensure that the staff team receives adequate support, mentorship, and high-quality supervision and coaching as appropriate.


· Execute all responsibilities of your role with diligence and pride.


· Be accountable for the safety and well-being of young people at all times, ensuring their best interests are prioritized.


· Assist with supervision tasks.


· Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations.


· Monitor and manage budgets effectively.


· Ensure timely recording of mileage and submission of timesheets and expenses by team members.


· Take responsibility for the timely and efficient completion of all assigned tasks.


This role requires the successful candidate to undergo an enhanced DBS check for child and adult workforce with barred list checks.


This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and applicants must declare any unprotected convictions, cautions, reprimands, and final warnings as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended).



Qualifications

· Valid driving license

· NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare

· NVQ Level 5 in Leadership & Management is desirable

· Experience as a Children's Residential Support Worker or in a senior role seeking career advancement

· Supervisory experience is a plus.
