As a Software Release Coordinator within our Connectivity team, you will report directly to the Release Manager for Connectivity Release Management. Your role will be pivotal in supporting the development of our top-tier products for customers across the UK, Ireland, and Italy.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating and monitoring software changes and their dependencies.
  • Establishing and maintaining standards and best practices for Release Management.
  • Collaborating closely with Development, Testing, Product, and Delivery teams.
  • Overseeing the deployment of software across millions of Sky connectivity devices worldwide.

In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the successful release of Sky Connectivity software. A proactive mindset and a commitment to delivering high-quality software releases in a fast-paced market are essential.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage software releases, including release readiness, preparing release branches, and compiling release notes.
  • Take ownership of releasing firmware to QA, factories, and other stakeholders.
  • Identify and resolve blockers to meet release targets.
  • Oversee the merging and approval of bugs and user stories into releases.
  • Work closely with RDK-B Development, QA, and Triage teams to troubleshoot issues and identify root causes.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Engage in personal, technical, and professional development.

Qualifications:

  • A degree or equivalent in data/computer science or telecommunications engineering.

You should have a solid background in Software Engineering, with a comprehensive understanding of the embedded software development lifecycle, and experience in areas such as Linux, C, and Python, particularly in software release processes.

Essential Skills:

  • Proficient in software configuration management and version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Familiarity with Lean and Agile Software Development methodologies.
  • Experience managing complex software releases in production environments.
  • Understanding of Continuous Integration and Test Driven Development.
  • A proven track record of ownership and a proactive approach.
  • Self-motivated with strong relationship-building skills.

Additional Skills:

  • Knowledge of CI Automation using Jenkins/Gerrit, and Bash/Python scripting.
  • Strong data analysis capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Understanding of Linux Administration and Networking.
  • Familiarity with RDK Release Management is advantageous.
  • Experience with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Gerrit/Git, Jenkins, and Splunk.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ programming and UNIX/Linux skills would be beneficial.
  • Experience in Set Top Box/Router/Booster software development is a plus.
