London, Greater London, United Kingdom Ministry of Defence Full time

Position Overview

Are you interested in contributing to critical Defence matters and playing a significant role in the national security of the United Kingdom? The Ordnance, Munitions & Explosives (Level 6) Degree Apprenticeship program offers a unique opportunity to engage in this vital field.

Established to enhance the UK's nuclear capabilities, the Defence Nuclear Organisation (DNO) is dedicated to deterring threats and safeguarding our nation. The DNO manages all defence nuclear operations (excluding active missions) and is tasked with ensuring nuclear deterrence, overseeing the Defence Nuclear Enterprise, and providing guidance on UK nuclear policy and international collaboration.

For over six decades, the UK's independent nuclear deterrent has been a cornerstone of our national security strategy, addressing the most severe threats to our safety and that of our NATO partners. To maintain a credible and effective nuclear deterrent, we are advancing the development of new nuclear-armed submarines and modernizing our nuclear warheads, showcasing the best of British engineering and technology.

At DNO, we prioritize diversity and inclusion, recognizing that a varied workforce enhances creativity, decision-making, and innovation. We celebrate differences and foster an environment where all individuals feel valued and empowered.

Role Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will possess a strong desire to learn, a curious mindset, and a logical approach to problem-solving. Commitment to completing the 5-year apprenticeship program and achieving a Level 6 degree qualification is essential. If you resonate with these qualities, we encourage you to consider this opportunity.

The Defence Nuclear Enterprise (DNE) comprises various governmental and industrial entities that collectively sustain the UK's nuclear deterrent. This includes organizations, programs, and personnel that contribute to the UK's nuclear capabilities.
