Key Responsibilities:

As a Technical Author, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive analyses and documentation related to Directed Energy Weapons (DEW). Your primary tasks will include:

  • Assessment of Current UK Legislation: Review existing laws pertaining to DEW, identifying their relevance and any gaps that may exist.
  • Regulatory Review: Analyze current Defence Regulations and guidance to ascertain their applicability to DEW systems.
  • Action Plan Development: Propose strategies for pursuing exemptions, disapplications, or acceptable means of compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Reporting: Create detailed reports summarizing findings and suggesting actionable plans, including potential amendments to Defence Regulations.
  • Safety Regulation Proposals: Address gaps in Defence regulations concerning DEW and propose acceptable means of compliance to ensure adherence to safety standards.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A solid understanding of Defence legislation related to ordnance, munitions, and explosives.
  • Proven ability to evaluate and identify gaps in current legislation and Defence regulations.
  • Familiarity with Health & Safety regulations.
  • Experience in regulatory assessment and authorship of safety documentation.
  • A STEM background with technical knowledge of Directed Energy Weapons is preferred.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills in a technical context.

This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance and enhancing the regulatory framework surrounding Directed Energy Weapons.
