Patient Administration Support Specialist - Band 2 Ward Clerk and Antenatal Receptionist
We are seeking a dedicated Ward Clerk for our dynamic Josephine Barnes Ward and a Receptionist for our Antenatal Clinic.
We are looking for a motivated, skilled, and compassionate individual to join our Inpatient Wards. The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, safe, and compassionate healthcare. You will provide essential administrative support to a diverse team of clinical professionals and will be expected to maintain a positive attitude while adapting to various roles within the department. Exceptional customer service aligned with our Trust values is a key expectation.
Key Responsibilities
The Patient Administration Support Specialist will enhance the delivery of high-quality, safe, and compassionate care by:
- Welcoming and assisting patients in a manner that addresses their individual needs.
- Providing administrative assistance to the team, facilitating communication between patients, healthcare providers, and other professionals.
- Consistently delivering high-quality customer service and maintaining professionalism at all times.
- Working across various areas, including:
- Wards
- Reception

Job Duties
- Deliver administrative support to the clinical team in the assigned area and provide coverage across the Trust's administrative resources.
- Organize and file documentation appropriately.
- Provide coverage across the Patient Operations Department as needed.
- Ensure adherence to procedures regarding data collection for service-specific outcomes.
- Maintain an excellent standard of service for patients at all times.
- Follow Trust-wide standard operating procedures and policies for clinical administrative processes and contribute to their enhancement.
- Perform tasks such as photocopying and filing.
- Manage phone inquiries.
- Greet visitors as they arrive at the ward.
- Schedule follow-up appointments.
- Arrange transport for patients.

Qualifications
Essential
- GCSE English and Mathematics or equivalent qualifications.
Desirable
- Additional GCSE qualifications.
Experience
Essential
- Previous experience in an administrative role.
- Experience in a customer-focused service environment.
Desirable
- Prior administrative experience within the NHS.
Skills & Knowledge

- Ability to collaborate with a diverse group of individuals.
