Patient Administration Support Specialist - Band 2 Ward Clerk and Antenatal Receptionist

We are seeking a dedicated Ward Clerk for our dynamic Josephine Barnes Ward and a Receptionist for our Antenatal Clinic.

We are looking for a motivated, skilled, and compassionate individual to join our Inpatient Wards. The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, safe, and compassionate healthcare. You will provide essential administrative support to a diverse team of clinical professionals and will be expected to maintain a positive attitude while adapting to various roles within the department. Key Responsibilities

The Patient Administration Support Specialist will enhance the delivery of high-quality, safe, and compassionate care by:

  • Welcoming and assisting patients in a manner that addresses their individual needs.
  • Providing administrative assistance to the team, facilitating communication between patients, healthcare providers, and other professionals.
  • Consistently delivering high-quality customer service and maintaining professionalism at all times.
  • Working across various areas, including:
    • Wards
    • Reception

Job Duties

  • Deliver administrative support to the clinical team in the assigned area and provide coverage across the Trust's administrative resources.
  • Organize and file documentation appropriately.
  • Provide coverage across the Patient Operations Department as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to procedures regarding data collection for service-specific outcomes.
  • Maintain an excellent standard of service for patients at all times.
  • Follow Trust-wide standard operating procedures and policies for clinical administrative processes and contribute to their enhancement.
  • Perform tasks such as photocopying and filing.
  • Manage phone inquiries.
  • Greet visitors as they arrive at the ward.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments.
  • Arrange transport for patients.

Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE English and Mathematics or equivalent qualifications.

Desirable

  • Additional GCSE qualifications.

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience in an administrative role.
  • Experience in a customer-focused service environment.

Desirable

  • Prior administrative experience within the NHS.

Skills & Knowledge

Essential

  • Ability to collaborate with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Proficient PC skills.
  • Strong organizational skills to effectively manage and prioritize workload.
