Job Summary:

The Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join its Board of Directors as a Non-Executive Director. As a key member of the Board, you will play a crucial role in shaping the strategic direction of the organization and ensuring the effective governance of the pension scheme.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and guidance to the Board, drawing on your expertise in stakeholder engagement, industrial relations, and pension industry experience.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the organization's governance framework, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Engage with scheme members, employers, and other stakeholders to build trust and confidence in the pension scheme.
  • Participate in the oversight of the pension scheme's administration, ensuring that it is delivered efficiently and effectively.
  • Collaborate with other Board members to drive business growth, improve performance, and mitigate risks.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in stakeholder engagement, industrial relations, and pension industry experience.
  • Strong understanding of corporate governance best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including scheme members, employers, and other Board members.
  • Commitment to the values of the Universities Superannuation Scheme, including a focus on member outcomes and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Time Commitment: At least 35 days per annum.

Duration: A four-year term of office, with the possibility of the term being extended by one year (max. five-year term).
