An exciting new opening has become available for a Water Resources Planner to support the development of the company’s Water Resources Management Plan (WRMP) and Drought Plan.

**What’s the job?**

As the Water Resources Planner, you will be supporting the production of the overall company’s water supply strategy and associated strategic plans. You will be leading on the development and maintenance of key datasets, models and workflows for specific technical components that feed into the development of the company’s WRMPs (Water Resources Management Plan), as well as those that support short term supply strategy and regulatory reporting.

Additional responsibilities will include:

- maintaining and developing, as appropriate, the company’s supply-demand balance model
- working with the team to develop and maintain auditable, reproducible workflows of the plan’s technical components in relevant programmes (e.g. Excel and R/R-studio)
- developing and maintaining spatial datasets in GIS
- liaising with auditors, assurers and regulators as appropriate to explain technical results and workflows, and our annual regulatory reporting requirements
- where appropriate, supervising and liaising with consultants to develop technical plan components
- providing support for relevant meetings, including arranging meetings and keeping minutes and actions
- contributing to the report writing of individual WRMP and Drought plan components
- supporting the team in the production of the monthly supply strategy.

**What do I need?**

This is a data and process focussed role: it is desirable that you are able to use coding languages, in particular R or Python, as well as VBA.

Additional requirements include:

- strong skillset in managing and analysing large multi-faceted datasets
- a good working understanding of the Wessex Water supply system
- an understanding of the water resources and drought Planning process, including of regulatory guidance and expectations, as well as of plan development
- excellent communication skills - both verbally and written
- high standards of attention to detail and organisational abilities
- an understanding of hydrology and/or hydrogeology, relevant to water resources
- the ability to develop, follow and maintain procedures to ensure the accurate maintenance of technical workflows
- being methodical with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work using your own initiative.
