We have an excellent opportunity for a Principal Hydrogeologist to join our Tactical Water Resources team. Do you have experience of project managing groundwater sources and water quality investigations? Do you have a proven track record of delivering borehole maintenance and replacement projects? What you'll do

This role provides key support to water resource planning and development, ensuring that the company makes sounds evidence-based investment decisions in managing and developing its groundwater assets. You will work closely with the other Hydrogeologists in the team to apply and develop hydrogeology expertise throughout our group.

Reporting to the Tactical Water Resources Manager, your role will involve:

Managing the delivery of a groundwater maintenance and replacement programmes and supervising other hydrogeologists Project managing our groundwater source investigations, including site supervision and management of contractors and consultants Project planning to deliver regulatory and business plan outcomes, budgeting, quality assurance and reporting associated with water resource optioneering and operational borehole management Specification and delivery of robust groundwater monitoring programmes to facilitate effective and appropriate borehole asset management Preparation of groundwater resource options for water resource planning and development Delivery and review of conceptual understanding of groundwater abstractions for catchment drinking water risk assessment Manage the development of groundwater conceptual and numerical modelling Ensuring that the company makes sound evidence-based investment decisions in managing and developing its groundwater assets Working effectively and collaboratively across the business including our Operations team

This is a senior role that will involve liaison at a high level with internal Wessex Water teams on hydrogeological issues including specifying, justifying and guiding groundwater related project proposals though to full approval. It will be instrumental in development of Business Planning through the provision of specialist guidance and advice. 

What you'll need

You will need to have a degree and higher degree in hydrogeology, or geological sciences discipline as well as ~10 years of experience in the groundwater sector. In addition, you will need:

Experience of project management and budgeting Proven track record of on-site delivery of borehole maintenance and rehabilitation programmes Technical skills and scientific approach to data handling, interpretation, management and reporting Excellent written and verbal presentation skills including the ability to write clear, thorough and coherent scientific reports Knowledge of the geology of the Wessex region Computer literate including Microsoft Office and GIS packages Good understanding of environmental legislation and the water industry A valid full UK driving licence
