Community Youth Services is made up of a number of youth engagement services that seek to support young people where they are at. We are community based enabling youth provisions to be directly delivered in communities. Youth voice is at our core ensuring we deliver services to young people that are relevant to their needs.

The team deliver well connected, ambitious, creative and high energy youth work to young Sheffielders. We utilise a variety of engagement methods to affect change and add social value to the personal and social growth and development of young Sheffielders. Making use of social community infrastructure to serve in the best interest of young people, promoting contextual safety and alertness and to ensure active promotion of these spaces and establish trusted adults.

To provide a full program of youth work opportunities and informal learning in communities using (but not exclusively):

- Open access, outreach and detached methods
- Targeted group work addressing immediate needs of young people
- Offering creative exploration
- Referrals to wider services and reaction to safeguarding. Acting as lead professional where this is deemed best for the young person.
- To lead on service development, planning, evaluations and auditing ensuring quality assurance and inspection readiness.
- To provide high quality, reflective and ambitious supervision and mentoring to all staff reporting to this role; including appraisals and addressing performance issues as required.
- To represent and advocate Community Youth Services in a range of forums including Local Area Committees, Tennant/Residents Associations, Education, Social Care/ Early Help cases etc.
- To deliver contemporary and effective continuous professional development and training opportunities within the service (City Wide) to ensure that youth services staff and partners are providing activities that are supporting the National Occupational Standards for Community Youth Work.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
