- 3 hours (4:30pm - 7.30pm) Thursdays
- 4.5 hours (5.00pm - 9.30pm) Fridays
- Additional hours may become available.

Always an Alternative are a newly registered Charity, providing mentoring, guidance and support to young people to make safe / positive life choices.

We are looking for vibrant, enthusiastic and caring individuals to join our team and support us to make a positive difference to young people’s lives.

We are looking to recruit a Youth Worker who is qualified to a minimum level 2 Youth
Work Practice.

As part of your role, you will;
- Build a rapport with young people and listen to their concerns
- Inspire young people to achieve their aspirations
- Provide young people a guiding hand and support to enable them to make informed decisions
- Work with young people within the core values of Youth Work
- Encourage and promote self-advocacy and/or advocate on behalf of the young person
- Take a lead in the running of the youth club including planning and participating in activities and all engagement required by the young people.
- Assist in the cleaning and maintenance and security of the building, including fire prevention
- Lead in developing and maintaining close links with the local community, voluntary organisations, voluntary helpers, police, social care, CAMHS and any other relevant professionals

**Skills and Experience**

You will be over 21 years of age.

**Experience Essential**
- An understanding of empathy towards the difficulties young people are experiencing and an ability to relate to them on a one-to-one basis.
- Recognised Qualification in Children’s or Youth Work.
- Experience of working with others and being a team player.
- A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
- Ability to support young people to see the potential that they are able to motivate themselves
- Ability to work within policy and procedures but to use own initiative to achieve the best outcome for the young person.
- Ability to maintain good relationships with young people, families, carers and professionals who are involved with the youth club.

**Experience Desirable**
- 12 months experience of working with Children/Young.

**Skills and Abilities**
- Practical knowledge of supporting to run a Youth Club.
- Ability to carry out basic recordings, such as attendance records, accident reports etc.
- Take pride in a job well done and enable young people to share this value
- Good time keeping and reliability
- Solution focussed
- Ensuring a good standard of Equal Opportunities practice is upheld and the ability to develop high quality youth work within this context.
