Vwt Safeguarding Co-ordinator, Band 3

The post-holder will primarily provide efficient, confidential and professional administrative support to the Named Midwife and midwives working in the Vulnerable Womens Team. This will include administration and support of a variety of work programs in relation to childrens and vulnerable womens safeguarding services across the two main hospital sites. Good communication skills between professional teams who are responsible for safeguarding both internally and externally to the Trust is essential to provide high quality services. To work closely with the Safeguarding Vulnerable Womens Team (Maternity) and Safeguarding Childrens Team to further develop and maintain safeguarding processes including the database necessary to provide management oversight of safeguarding activity.
KEY RESULT AREAS Act as a single point of entry for clinical patient specific data relating to our patients Support for Vulnerable Women team to include but not exclusive - Enter safeguarding alert information on hospital systems for women and babies - Collation of all safeguarding alerts and referrals submitted to and from social care that relate to the unborn and babies attending the Trust, to ensure the information is entered on to a secure database, actioned and the response and outcome tracked. - Pulling and filing information in notes. - Support the further development of processes and databases to provide managerial oversight of safeguarding processes as guided by clinical staff. Responsibility for data entry and managing the Vulnerable Womens inbox for the Division.
Assist with the collation of data for trend monitoring of safeguarding activity. e.g. alerts received via Datixweb. Liaise with external agencies on safeguarding matters and coordinate and track requests by the MASH and through GSCB Allegations management.
Follow defined protocols and policy to take actions in response to alerts received escalating to the appropriate team as appropriate. - Support the Named Midwife for safeguarding / Named Nurse for Children with the development of training Materials/ chronologies/reports/minutes for meetings. - Support the further development of processes and databases and have oversight of safeguarding the unborn and children activity. - Responsibility for data entry, collation and generation of Trust reports relating to Midwifery concerns forms and onward reporting of the required information to the GSCB.
- To assist the Named Midwife/Nurse and members of the Vulnerable womens Teams with a variety of work programs (e.g., Audit) and development of staff and patient resources related to the Safeguarding Vulnerable Womens Team (Maternity). - Follow defined protocols, policy and timelines, escalate to relevant members of clinical team where response actions are indicated (Training on Protocols provided). - Assist in collating of information and typing of information for statements and chronologies for safeguarding reviews. - To undertake additional work actions, as identified by Line Manager, as being necessary and appropriate in order to meet the needs of the service.
