You will be required to deliver existing practical journalism modules across the undergraduate curriculum. There will be opportunities to evolve the journalism and wider media production curriculum as part of a friendly, collegial team of staff working across film, media and journalism.

The ability to communicate in Welsh is essential for this post.

Purpose of the Job
- To teach a wide range of modules in Journalism and Media at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including the supervision of practical projects and dissertations.
- To develop teaching materials and assessment methods that reflect contemporary journalistic practice.
- To maintain a current curriculum and undertake course re-designed as required by both the external world of media practice and internal Quality Enhancement processes.
- To be a module leader (including organization of weekly teaching and learning tasks and marking of assessments) and to co-deliver teaching with other members of the teaching team as required.
- To provide pastoral and academic support to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- To initiate and deliver employability opportunities and partnerships with the news, media, and broader creative economy.
- To conduct administrative tasks as designated by the Head of School.

Main

**Responsibilities**:

- Teaching duties will include:
- Establishing a record of teaching excellence at undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
- Planning, preparing and delivering lectures and seminars at undergraduate and postgraduate level, responding effectively to a variety of student backgrounds, learning styles and class sizes, including delivery of quality modules that attract, engage and retain students;
- Motivating students to proactively engage in learning, and providing meaningful and constructive feedback on the quality of their work within agreed time constraints;
- Examining and supervising/co-supervising students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
- Keeping abreast of new professional, educational and related social, creative, economic and technological developments;
- Ensuring that all students are provided with a supportive learning environment and that individual personal tutees receive appropriate advice and guidance;
- Participating in Quality Enhancement procedures;
- Contributing to the teaching and assessment of the School’s portfolio of Journalism and Media modules and programmes at various levels according to the needs of the School, including designing, developing and delivery of a range of teaching materials for study at various levels;
- Relating, wherever possible and practicable, teaching to the needs of news, media, and broader creative economy plus local businesses and other related organizations.
- Initiate employability opportunities and partnerships with relevant organisations.
- Maintain and develop Scholarly activities in line with University and College strategies.
- Depending on profile, publish evidence of scholarship related to learning and teaching and professional practice for example via delivering presentations at public events or publishing articles and/or papers in academic journals.
