University of Warwick, United Kingdom University of Warwick Full time

Permanent position, 1.0 FTE.

This is an exciting time to join Warwick in a senior education role as we deliver our five-yearly Institutional Teaching and Learning Review, develop our next Education Strategy and deliver a major refresh of programmes in line with our new curriculum framework.

**THE OPPORTUNITY**

As our new Head of Education Quality and Partnerships, you will personally and visibly lead the redevelopment of our Quality Framework, ensuring our approach to quality assurance, continuous improvement and strategic enhancement is coherent and fit for purpose across an increasingly diverse portfolio of traditional, apprenticeship, collaborative, flexible and online higher education. This will balance supporting the delivery of our Education Strategy, creating the conditions for our staff and student leaders to drive innovation and improvement in education, and securing compliance with changing OfS regulation.

You will also lead and oversee several of our core services and a talented team of quality and project professionals (currently 13 via 3 direct reports) covering: approvals; quality reviews; student engagement and surveys; partnership management; curriculum development; and external compliance (OfS regulation, TEF, PSRBs).

**OUR TEAM**

As a friendly team of around 25 colleagues, we work supportively to deliver a demanding and rewarding workload. Our approach to hybrid working in EPQ is flexible, with team members being expected to work on campus for at least two days a week, to include every Tuesday. You’re welcome to work full time from the office if that’s what you would prefer.

Interview Date: TBC.

**JOB PURPOSE**

You will lead the development and institution-wide implementation the University’s Quality Assurance and Enhancement Framework to ensure that academic standards are upheld, the quality of the student learning experience continuously improves, and the Education Strategy has tangible impact. You will lead by example in ensuring the Framework and EPQ evolve to effectively serve an education portfolio this is becoming more interdisciplinary, diverse, flexible and collaborative.
You will provide authoritative expertise and advice on matters of academic standards, quality assurance and quality enhancement - grounded in an excellent understanding of national higher education quality and qualifications policy.
You will provide agency and leadership that enables your team and EPQ more widely to thrive and deliver excellent user-focused services.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Operational Leadership**
- Provide high-level advice and advocacy across the University on the implementation and continued evolution of the University’s Quality Framework, including as a point of escalation to resolve matters that are complex or lack precedent.
- Lead EPQ managers in designing, delivering and improving services to the university community that support quality assurance and enhancement - such as the approval of curricula and partnerships, the monitoring and review of education, the delivery of tools for student engagement, and the management of curriculum and compliance related data.
- Lead the provision of professional support and advice to the University’s academic partnerships - including the management and governance of relationships, risk, responsibilities and quality assurance - and where required, formally represent the University to its partners.
- Provide high-level project management and leadership to external reviews, audits and evaluations of the University as required by the Director of Education Policy and Quality, including the Teaching Excellence Framework.
- Support the Director of Education Policy and Quality and other senior leaders as appropriate in liaising and managing relationships with the University’s regulatory bodies (e.g. OfS, Ofsted, QAA as DQB, PSRBs), networks and suppliers (e.g. Advance HE for student surveys, UVAC and QAA’s membership function).
- Provide high-level management and delivery capacity for significant and/or sensitive outputs required to assure or enhance the quality of education - such as complex change or delivery projects (e.g. ITLR, TEF, Curriculum Review), new policy development or investigations into concerns about compliance.

**Policy Development and Engagement**
- Lead the design, delivery and publication of the University’s Quality Framework - namely the principles, policies and processes for assuring and enhancing the quality of education - in close collaboration with the University’s academic leadership and wider community of staff and students.
- In collaboration with teams responsible for staff, student and educational development (e.g. ADC, IATL, FOLD, OD, Students’ Union), develop the University’s support for staff, students and externals to effectively fulfil their responsibilities for quality assurance, quality enhancement, academic governance and education management.
