The Departments of Philosophy, Sociology and Politics and International Studies, based in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Warwick, are seeking to jointly appoint an Academic Technologist who will provide training and support for learning technologies to staff and students.

As the postholder, you will provide day-to-day support for the departments’ Virtual Learning Environment (Moodle) as well as identify and support opportunities for enhancing the way in which this and other learning technologies are used in the departments. You will help to plan, design, and develop high quality learning, teaching, and assessment materials in collaboration with academic and professional service colleagues from across the three departments and provide colleagues with ongoing support and training as appropriate. Additionally, you will contribute towards online content production, and offer learning technologies training in a variety of formats such as workshops, how-to-guides, and one-to-one.

The three departments involved in this recruitment are part of a vibrant and diverse community within the Faculty of Social Sciences where independent thinking and entrepreneurial spirit is at the heart of everything we do.

**JOB PURPOSE**

The post holder will provide support and guidance to staff and students in the Cluster on using technology to enhance and support their teaching, learning and research practice. The post holder will implement and maintain departmental processes for academic technology and support key aspects of course delivery.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

**1. Support and enable stakeholders to utilise academic technology effectively**:

- Promote the appropriate use of university-provided technologies and services in support of teaching, learning and assessment. In particular, support the effective use of existing systems such as Moodle, MS Teams, Talis Aspire and Tabula, and take an active role in the implementation of new systems such as the Warwick Assessment System.
- Champion new approaches to the use of technology in education, working with academic staff to develop and embed blended learning practices and diversify assessment.
- Provide expert advice and coaching in the use of technology to support education.
- Deliver communication, documentation, and training to support the implementation of digital learning practices, liaising with the central academic technology team and making effective use of available resources.
- Support students to interact effectively with digital learning systems via guides, training resources, and localised support.

**2. Implement technological solutions and processes that support the Cluster’s (digital) education strategy.**
- Support the delivery of assessments using appropriate technologies, liaising with teaching staff and considering pedagogical aims, quality assurance and student experience. Liaise with relevant professional services colleagues to ensure the smooth transition from assessment delivery to marks management.
- Develop and maintain efficient and effective processes, practices and infrastructure to support teaching staff to deliver digital learning in line with annual teaching cycles. Ensure that departmental use of different systems is complementary and that data transfer is effective.
- Provide key support to projects to implement the adoption of technology in support of teaching and learning activities and capabilities, working effectively with all contributors to the provision of solutions.
- Advise on the most appropriate use of educational technology within the context of inclusive education, taking into account considerations such as neurodiversity and differing levels of access.

**3. Work with departmental and central support colleagues to develop knowledge, skills and provision.**
- Contribute to wider community of Academic Technology around the university, providing feedback and sharing knowledge and resources as appropriate.
- Attend and contribute to meetings, workshops, and events as appropriate.
- Ensure knowledge of appropriate technologies, approaches and methods are maintained via continuous professional development.
- Represent the departments on relevant working groups, forums, and committees and report back via the appropriate departmental mechanisms.
