The WBS Teaching & Learning Enhancement Team plays a pivotal role in supporting and developing pedagogic practices and innovations at Warwick Business School. Working closely with members of faculty at all levels, including senior management, Teaching and Learning Consultants provide expertise in the areas of technology enhanced learning; online materials development (leading on the design of modules for our world-leading Distance Learning MBA); pedagogic innovation; assessment and feedback. In addition, Teaching and Learning Consultants play a strategic role in the implementation of various School-wide initiatives to improve the quality of teaching and learning.

You will need to have significant experience of online learning design, with up-to-date knowledge of current developments in distance and blended learning. You should also have a good understanding of other key aspects of Higher Education, such as assessment practices, curriculum design and teaching large cohorts.

You will need excellent communication skills, good organisational ability and experience in the implementation of new learning and teaching technologies and approaches, especially in Higher Education. You will preferably have prior experience of management education.

**JOB PURPOSE**

To be responsible for the support of approximately 50 WBS academics in their teaching role, as well as Heads of Group in the delivery of teaching at WBS, and Associate/Assistant Deans and Course Directors in programme teaching-related matters.

To lead on the design and quality assurance of online modules and courses as well as the implementation and operation of teaching and learning initiatives for all programmes at Warwick Business School. Other tasks include strategic planning of the introduction of new technology to enhance WBS programmes; training and supporting teaching faculty and playing a proactive role in the discovery, development and implementation of new ideas, practices and resources from inception to delivery.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

The Teaching and Learning Consultant assists WBS programmes, academic and administrative staff in achieving and maintaining excellence in teaching and learning, by helping to shape the teaching and learning strategy for WBS, by establishing best practice in the design of modules and by leading on the design and deployment of teaching resources and systems.

1. Support for groups, programmes and individual academics

Provision of support to assigned academic groups (via Heads of Groups and individual academics) and WBS programmes with matters relating to teaching and learning. Attending academic group, programme team and committee meetings, and liaising with assigned academics on an individual basis.

2. Instructional Design:
Designing e-learning and face-to-face modules for WBS programmes using appropriate instructional design methodologies; project-managing online learning resource development and delivery; producing guidance material for staff and learners; developing induction activities for online learners; evaluating and improving e-learning module design.

3. Staff development:
Providing input at instructional design workshops, coaching in the use of technology in the classroom; presenting at group and team meetings; providing training and support for online tutors.

4. Project management of new programme developments:
Working with other stakeholders and with other members of the Teaching and Learning Enhancement team, project-managing the development of new blended and online programmes, including the management of timely publication of module materials.

5. Technology selection, implementation and support:
Evaluating educational technologies; selecting, deploying and (where appropriate) maintaining chosen technologies; supporting students and academic staff in their use of technology solutions; where appropriate, working with departmental and University technical developers to deploy and support existing platforms and develop new ones to facilitate learning opportunities.

6. Specialist knowledge:
Developing knowledge and expertise in specific areas that relate to pedagogy and the use of technology to enhance Teaching and Learning. Sharing knowledge with others and acting as a first point of contact for specific aspects of the team’s work. Identifying new innovations in teaching and learning and leading on their evaluation, adoption and embedding in practice.

7. Monitoring external environment:
Maintaining a close watch on national and international trends in teaching and learning through attendance at conferences, participation in University and UK initiatives and workshops.
