The graduate-entry MBChB programme at Warwick Medical School (WMS) is the largest in the UK, attracting graduates from both science and non-science backgrounds. Its modern medical programme is delivered by a dynamic and forward-thinking team of academics and clinicians.

We are currently seeking to recruit a permanent part time Clinical Education Fellow (CEF) for an exciting new role supporting the Director of Medical Education in developing innovative teaching and learning projects.

Your teaching duties will include becoming a trained case based learning facilitator and personal tutor. In addition you will support co-production projects with students and work on projects which may include development of the patient group “CommUnity”, working with new community partners, developing virtual reality material, showcasing innovation on the schools webpages and developing longitudinal virtual patients.

You will be enrolled on modules working towards the Certificate in Medical Education and supported to complete a small medical education project. You will be encouraged to contribute to departmental education meetings.

This post has been specifically designed as a career development post in Medical Education. This post is designed to nurture junior clinical staff so that they can become involved with teaching and progress along a clinical academic route should they wish, and is ideally suited for applicants on completion of foundation training, or taking a year out from specialist training.

**JOB PURPOSE**

MBChB teaching is delivered by case-based learning (CBL) across all phases of the curriculum, you will become a trained facilitator to support this method of delivery and a personal tutor.

You will be expected to work on site to enable you to deliver face to face facilitation and also to work with teaching colleagues and students under the direction of the Director of Medical Education.

During the contract you will be developed as a group facilitator and clinical educator. You will acquire the skills and practices to support online and blended learning.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Teaching and Learning Support**

1. Teach as a member of the MBChB teaching team in a developing capacity. Specifically undertake CBL facilitation.

2. Develop cross-phase innovative teaching materials, methods and approaches with guidance.

3. Identify learning needs of students and define appropriate learning objectives.

4. Ensure that content, methods of delivery and learning materials will meet the defined learning objectives.

5. Supervise the work of students, provide advice on study skills and help them with learning problems.

6. Develop your understanding of the dynamics of group work addressing specific issues and providing assistance/guidance to both groups and individuals as necessary

8. Assess the work and progress of students by reference to provided criteria and provide constructive feedback to students.

**Research and Scholarship**

1. Reflect on practice and the development of own teaching and learning skills.

**Administration and Other Activities**

1. Undertake duties related to course administration, such as attendance records, etc.

2. May be expected to attend departmental meetings.

3. Act as a personal tutor in accordance with WMS policy and to University of Warwick standards.

4. Take an informal role in student pastoral care such as identification of “at risk” students and dysfunctional groups, offering support and referral to appropriate sources of help.

5. Support other clinical education fellows and mentor as appropriate. Input your skills into module running as deemed appropriate.
